Privacy Policy

UniBible is anonymous by design. There is no account to create, no email to give, no profile to fill in. This policy describes exactly what we collect, why, and how long we keep it.

Effective January 15, 2026 · Last updated January 15, 2026
The short version

We do not know who you are, we do not want to, and we do not try to find out. Only hashed fragments are stored, only so the wall stays kind.

1What UniBible is

UniBible is an anonymous, AI-free public wall for Bible-related reflections, available at unibible.online (the "Service"). It has no accounts, no logins, no profiles, and no identity system.

2What we do not collect

3What we do collect, and why

The Service stores only the data it strictly needs to prevent abuse of the wall and to make posts render.

DataWhereWhyRetention
device UUID (hashed) Server (MongoDB) So we can rate-limit rapid-fire posts and ensure one reaction per device per post. Until the post is deleted.
IP address (hashed) Server (MongoDB) A second, coarse rate-limit bucket so the same device can't just rotate its UUID. Until the post is deleted.
post content Server (MongoDB) So it can appear on the public wall. Indefinitely, unless removed.
reaction events Server (MongoDB) So reactions work and cannot be double-pressed from the same device. Indefinitely.
flag events Server (MongoDB) So community flagging works. Indefinitely.
unibible:device_id Your browser (localStorage) A random UUID generated on first visit. Used for rate-limit continuity only. Until you clear site data.
unibible:reacted Your browser (localStorage) Tracks which reactions you've already pressed so we don't double-count. Until you clear site data.
unibible:flagged Your browser (localStorage) Tracks which posts you've already flagged. Until you clear site data.

Note on hashing

Device UUIDs and IP addresses are one-way-hashed on the server using HMAC-SHA-256 with a server-side secret. The raw values are not written to disk. The hashes cannot be reversed into the original values in any reasonable amount of time.

4Cookies

UniBible itself does not set any cookies. The browser-side values described above live in localStorage, which is similar in concept but not used for cross-site tracking and not sent in HTTP headers.

5Third parties

6AI crawlers and agents

The Service publishes its public content to AI crawlers, assistants, and agents through well-known discovery files (robots.txt, llms.txt, hello.json, mcp.json, and the agent API). Those crawlers may index and cite posts. Because posts are already public and anonymous, this does not change your privacy — but please be mindful that anything you post can be quoted by anyone, including AI systems.

7What UniBible cannot do for you

Because the Service does not know who you are, it is not able to:

Each post can still be flagged by the community for removal if it violates the Terms of Use. Posts that receive enough distinct flags are auto-hidden pending review.

8Children

The Service is intended for users at least 13 years of age. UniBible does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Because accounts and profiles do not exist, the Service has no age-gated profiles to maintain or delete.

9Security

The Service is served over HTTPS. Server-side hashing uses HMAC-SHA-256. No system can be perfectly secure; you are encouraged not to post anything on a public wall that you would regret being public.

10Regional notes

GDPR (EU/EEA/UK)

Because UniBible does not collect personal data from visitors (device and IP values are hashed and not linked to any identifier you provided), the typical GDPR data-subject rights (access, rectification, erasure, portability, objection) have no attached personal data to act on. If you posted specific content and wish it removed, use the in-app flag, or clear the content from the wall with enough community flags.

CCPA/CPRA (California)

UniBible does not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA/CPRA. There is no opt-out necessary because there is no sale.

11Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy over time. Updates will be published at /privacy.html with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.

12Summary, one more time

UniBible is a quiet, anonymous wall. We do not know who you are. We do not build a shadow profile. We do not sell anything. We keep the smallest amount of data possible, for the shortest sensible time, for the only purpose of making the wall safe.
